Brought 3D Imaging to our Cardio-Oncology Service Liverpool Heart and Chest is one of only six Cardio-Oncology services in the UK. They work with people who develop cancer and have a heart condition, or develop a heart condition due to the toxicity of some of the cancer treatments. The state of the 3D Ultrasound will help the Team have the most accurate readings when they are planning future care for their patients. Audio Visual Technology for Cardiac Catheterisation LHCH is recognised both nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for cardiac catheterisation. By purchasing state of the art Audio Visual equipment not only are we able to beam live procedures from the labs to medical students in training at the hospital - but also across the world to other centres. Brought faster care for our CF Patients. Young people living with Cystic Fibrosis are very vulnerable to infections. In order to treat these infections they need intravenous anti-biotics. Continuous treatment like this leads veins to collapse, making it hard to administer the care they need. We have purchased two Ultrasound machines which will quickly locate viable veins for treatment as well as identifying other potential problems such as collapsed lungs How we are governed Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the corporate trustee of the charity. Members of the Trust Board and the Charitable Funds Committee act as agents on behalf of the corporate trustee. The Charitable Funds Committee is responsible for the overall management of the charity, and is required, amongst other responsibilities, to: Manage the investment of funds in accordance with the Trustees Act 2000. Ensure that funding decisions are appropriate, consistent with our aims, and provide added value and benefit to patients, their families and our staff. As well as working hard leading the charity Mary is the resident culture vulture with a love of music, drama and history. Robyn Sefton, Fundraising Manager Robyn leads our Corporate and Community Events fundraising as well as making sure that the office runs smoothly - a very big job! Help us help more women with heart disease Women undergoing heart surgery are more at risk of post operative complications purely because they have to wear a bra! Yes, that's correct and that's why reducing risk is key to ensuring that women continue to live well following cardiac surgery. Whilst in hospital, we can undertake special procedures such as “vacuum” dressings which reduce pressure, prevent infection and draw the wound together. However, women still remain at risk when they leave hospital, and we advise them to wear a specially designed surgical bra day and night for at least six weeks following surgery. This means that they likely are in need of more than one so that they are able to change them regularly. As we work in some of the most economically deprived areas in the UK the costs of these bras (£24 each) is sometimes out of the reach of some of our poorest patients. We want to be able to provide them with the means of protecting themselves at home so we are approaching you now to see if it might be possible for you to make a gift of £24 (or whatever you can afford) to help us to provide these important items for our female patients in this position.
