Gareth and Simon’s journey across the UK for LHCH

Updated: Mar 14, 2022

Gareth Evans is taking on the truly daunting task of cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats during April 2022 to thank LHCH for saving his wife Kim who had sufffered three heart attacks in six months. He will be joined by his brother-in-law Simon who will be raising funds for vascular dementia.

Gareth and Simon who both turn 50 this year start their challenge on the 8th April and are hoping to complete it on the 20th April stopping only to celebrate Gareth’s daughter Molly’s 16th birthday and Simon's 50th!

Gareth says “It goes without saying really that the support given by LHCH to help Kim has been amazing, it’s been hard times for everyone at the moment with the pandemic but the nurses and doctors were there for her and us when she needed specialist treatment, that’s the reason we want to try and raise some money”.

Gareth, who after running Precision Engineering, his own business, is retiring this year and said of the challenge “I'm sure there's going to be some highs and lows, well its over 1000 miles at the back end of Winter with some challenging weather, so just to keep moving to each stage will be the worst of it, but the best bits will be the amazing scenery, the camaraderie and the end result where we raise some money for great causes”.

The pair have already raised over £830 so far and will be keeping everyone updated on their social media as their challenge progresses! If you would like to support Gareth and Simon please visit their Just Giving page to donate if you can https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gareth-evans115

Thank you so much Gareth and Simon, we really appreciate all of your hard work and support, it truly means a lot to all of us here at LHCH.
