Closer for Christmas

£27 could help keep a family close this Christmas

When home is far away...

When Margaret's husband needed specialist heart surgery, they had to travel from their home on the Isle of Man to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, one of the UK's leading centres for heart and lung care.

Margaret knew they would be away from home for weeks. During those long days and nights, her world revolved around the hospital – sitting at her husband's bedside, waiting for news and watching for the small signs of recovery, all so many miles from home and everything familiar.

That's why Robert Owen House, our family accommodation situated within the hospital grounds, was such a lifeline for Margaret.

More than just a bedroom ...

Somewhere quiet to sit with a cup of tea after a long day, to gather her thoughts and find a little respite. The caring staff at Robert Owen House understood what Margaret was going through, while the company of others staying at the House brought its own comfort.

Each had their own story, their own loved one in hospital, but there was reassurance in knowing they weren't facing those difficult days alone.

And eventually, after almost a month in Liverpool, came the day Margaret and her husband had both been waiting for.

They could go home together.

Why Robert Owen House
Matters

Margaret's experience is shared by families from across the UK who travel to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital for specialist heart and lung care.

For these families, Robert Owen House offers so much more than somewhere to sleep. It means being close to a loved one during some of the most difficult and uncertain days of their lives, with somewhere to rest, find comfort and gather strength for the following day.

Just £27 could help cover the cost of keeping a room available for one night at Robert Owen House, giving someone like Margaret the comfort of staying close to a loved one in hospital.

A place to rest after a difficult day. The reassurance of knowing that help and support are close at hand. And, above all, the comfort of being near someone who needs them.

This Christmas, please help us keep families close when it matters most.
