Kate and Gemma took part in the Aintree 10K to say thank you to the hospital that saved their Grandad Gerry’s life.
On Sunday, 10th June 2018, their Grandad Gerry collapsed and had a heart attack whilst at home. He was taken to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital where he was rushed straight into surgery and remained in critical care for two days.
Kate said “He stayed in the hospital for around a week and received the best possible care. The surgeons undoubtedly saved his life and because of all the staff at the hospital, our Grandad made a full recovery. We will never be able to put into words how grateful we are to this hospital, but we hope this run can help raise some money to help them carry on saving lives. We think if we can take anything from this pandemic it is how under appreciated and valuable our NHS is”.
Gerry was so touched by what his granddaughters were doing for Charity, he said
Kate and Gemma raised an incredible £1,730 for LHCH Charity and we cannot thank them enough for all of their support!
