Established in 1995 to support the work of Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and we have raised millions of pounds to make a difference to the lives of people living with heart and lung disease. We provide funds so that our dedicated medical staff can have the latest and best equipment to treat our patients. We support the provision of additional facilities for our patients and their familes - such as family rooms and gardens. We assist with the funding of some of the ground breaking and life changing research that happens at LHCH. Extending the excellence From family rooms, coffee bars and garden spaces - we make the hospital a warm and welcoming environment at a time when people are at their most vulnerable. Led the way in stroke reduction in patients Liverpool Heart and Chest is the only hospital in Europe to have access to this state of the art piece of equipment which helps to reduce the incidence of stroke in patients undergoing long and complicated heart surgery. Cutting edge technology for Cardiac Catheterisation LHCH Charity purchased an Echo Navigation System which fuses both X-Ray and Echo images into one 3D reconstruction of the heart, giving a clearer view of what is needed especially important when dealing with hearts which are not the usual shape and size. Helped to reduce the incidence of delirium in critically ill patients The expansion of the Ceiling Tile lights in our Intensive Care Unit has made a huge difference to our most poorly patients. The movement of the tiles from day to night help our patients feel that they are outside even if they are too ill to actually be there. How we are governed Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the corporate trustee of the charity. Members of the Trust board and the charitable funds committee act as agents on behalf of the corporate trustee. The Charitable Funds Committee is responsible for the overall management of the charity, and is required, amongst other responsibilities, to: Manage the investment of funds in accordance with the Trustees Act 2000. Ensure that funding decisions are appropriate, consistent with our aims, and provide added value and benefit to patients, their families and our staff. Read our latest Annual Report Mary Liley, Head of Fundraising Mary has been our Head of Fundraising for over 8 years. As well as working hard leading the charity Mary is the resident culture vulture with a love of music, drama and history. Robyn Sefton, Fundraising Manager Robyn leads our Corporate and Community Events fundraising as well as making sure that the office runs smoothly - a very big job! Olivia Mahoney, Social and Digital Media Officer Olivia looks after all of the social media for both LHCH Charity and the hospital, as well as being responsible for our LHCH Charity website. Gemma Moore, Fundraising Assistant Gemma is our latest recruit. As well as assisting Robyn in making sure the office runs smoothly, Gemma also works with the PALS Team helping to recruit the volunteers who work at the hospital and the charity.

Helping those most in need of treatment who live in areas of high deprivation and health inequality. Developed a new Training and Education Centre Medicine is a fast moving environment and training staff to ensure that they are up to date with the latest techniques is key to continuing to provide the oustanding service that we do. Thanks to you we have been able to develop a new training centre at LHCH "The Sir Ken Dodd Training and Education Centre" which will provide the additional facilities and space that we need to do this. Led the way in stroke reduction for patients LHCH is a leader in the field of cardiac surgery. Inevitably this means that many of the operations we perform are more complex. In some cases this might lead to a higher than normal risk of stroke both during and after the operation. You helped us purchase a new piece of equipment that can play a part in helping to mitigate this risk.
